People are born with different skin types determined by their genetics. Like everything else, skin can change over time. An individual’s skin type is based primarily on how much oil it produces in the follicles from the sebaceous glands, as well as the amount of lipid found between the cells.

Skin types includes dry, normal, combination of dry and normal and dry and oily (”combination skin”) oily and sensitive skin. All skin types need proper cleansing, exfoliating, and hydrating. Let’s find out what kind of skin you have and how you can take care of it.

Do you have the type of skin that can’t make up it’s mind? With two or more different skin types going on, at any one time? There are huge chances that you have a combination skin.

Combination skin can be oily and dry, or oily and normal at the same time. Usually, the T-zone through the middle of the face on the forehead, nose, chin is oilier. This area has more sebaceous glands and larger pores. If you can see that the size of the follicle is more obvious and looks medium to large outside the T-zone on the cheek, this is an indication of the combination skin type. Combination skin needs to be balanced and it requires more care than normal skin does. To take care of the combination skin, the oil-water balance can be achieved by treating both the oily and dryer areas of the face. Proper maintenance including cleansing and regular exfoliation, help to keep the skin clear and blemishes minimal. Water-based products work best for combination skin. Avoid harsh products, excessive cleaning, and rough exfoliating on all skin type
